Camp NaNoWriMo | Sign Up

It’s Spring, the days are getting longer and brighter, and the greenery is coming back. It’s the time for new things, exciting prospects, and for Spring cleaning – sounds to me like the perfect time of year to start writing! The guys at NaNoWriMo think the same, and created Camp NaNoWriMo. I have taken part in NaNoWriMo in November a couple of times – I actually managed to ‘win naNo’ in November – so I am looking forward to taking part! Continue reading “Camp NaNoWriMo | Sign Up”

NaNoWriMo Wrap Up

Evening chaps and chapesses, how is life and December treating you? I am a little bit confused as to how it’s already the 4th, but there we go. The car was frozen this morning, the fog was around all day, and the temperature has dipped below zero, all official signs winter and December are here and here to stay. So, before we get too far into December, I wanted to take a look at the biggest success of last month: winning NaNoWriMo!

As you can probably tell, I am really quite happy with myself. I worked really hard to hit the word total, and when validated, had managed to write  53,943 words during NaNo. I’m pretty pleased with myself and for the first time in a while I am really quite proud of that achievement. I wrote over 50,000 words in my contemporary idea, so I actually managed to finish NaNo without needing to count the words that were added to my Pirate idea (I added them anyway, because y’know, I’d written them, but knowing I didn’t need to was pretty cool). I also finished on November 28th, which gave me a bit of breathing room to validate and actually assess what I had done and what I have left to finish the work in progress. NaNoWriMo Update: 11th-23rd November

Howdy folks! How is your November treating you? The UK ha suddenly turned super icky, it’s cold, it’s wet, it’s windy, the leaves are all down, and blankets and jumpers are a must at all times. It’s not pleasant. November has been a bit of a weird one for me. On one hand it’s been great, I’ve celebrated my birthday and Thanksgiving, I visited Disney in. Florida for the first 8 days and London for a couple too, and I’m doing NaNo, but on the other hand I have no money, my back is really playing up again and causing me a lot of pain, and I am in a reading and blogging rut/slump. I think it’s winter blues, but only time will tell.

NaNoWriMo Update | 1st-10th

My my England is cold, eh? I’ve been used the Florida warmth and sun for the last 2 weeks, and in that time winter seems to have landed in the UK. This should be perfect, an excuse to curl up in the warmth with my laptop and write away, but that would be a little simplistic. I’m quite sure it won’t be that simple. As you might have seen from my NaNoWriMo Announcement post, I am making a serious attempt to ‘win’ NaNoWriMo and write at least 50,000 words. I tried before, 2 years ago, when I had a complicated space heist idea/concept, but it wasn’t clear enough in my mind to begin to try and write, so I abandoned it at around 10,000 words. So, this year, I have decided to think about 2 wildly different concepts in the hope of making decisions, plotting, knowing my characters, and ultimately learning to write, and I am tracking my progress through the NaNoWriMo website and a twitter thread.

NaNoWriMo 2018

Hello ladies and gentleman. You’ll never guess where I am writing this post! No, it’s not my living room, or my bedroom, or even on my lunch break, I’m on a plane, how cool is that huh? I am super excited that my holiday has finally arrived and that I am heading to Orlando for 2 weeks of sun, fun, and all things Disney. First things first though, I have a small announcement to make. I’m not really sure it’s very secret considering it’s in the title of the post, but if you missed it: I’m doing NaNoWriMo 2018! Continue reading “NaNoWriMo 2018”

Bullet Journal-ing

Since Emma moved in, I have made a concerted effort to be more organised. In some cases, such as the state of my room, or the organisation of the downstairs areas have taken (well, are taking) longer than other aspects of my life, but it is safe to say that since she has moved in I have been developing what resembles a routine. And that’s what we need in life, no? Whether it’s remembering to cook, or actually making my bed, I am doing my best to have habits and routines that involves healthier practices, and not perfecting couch-potatoing.  Continue reading “Bullet Journal-ing”

January Wrap Up

I have read a lot this month. I really feel, for once, that I have read a decent amount in one month. Considering how much time i have had on my hands, this is probably a good thing. I noticed a few friends doing wrap-up posts, so I thought the New Year is as good a time as any to start this trend off for my blog. Continue reading “January Wrap Up”
