The 140 Character Review: Welcome Back!

Guys, I read a lot books. I watch a lot of TV and film. I take into account other people’s opinions when I choose what to read and write, but I am quite bad at reviewing things myself. OK, I know not everyone is going to care what I think or what I say, but it’s nice to be able to give a little bit back to the bookish and TV/Film world, to review what I read/watch, and to keep a record of what it made me think at the time. This year, I’ve also set some pretty big goals and resolutions, namely reviewing everything I read, so I thought that a helping hand was needed.

So, with this in mind, I have decided to bring back my old blogging meme The 140 Character Review. Quite simply, it is a review that could be composed and completed within the length of a tweet (well, before they upped the character limit!) The time taken to review something in such a short format is a lot less than writing a full review, but it still captures my thoughts and feelings. I also find that writing with such a low count makes you think concisely and clearly about the media you have consumed.  Continue reading “The 140 Character Review: Welcome Back!”

The 140 character review – Welcome Back

I know I said that I was restarting this idea a couple of months ago, and then never actually did. But this time, I really am. I’m going to try and make it a regular Sunday posting on my blog. To give you an idea of what this is all about, click here.

I’ve also popped a few examples from posts gone by, with a link to the original 140 character review post: Continue reading “The 140 character review – Welcome Back”

The 140 character film review – Magical, musical, marvel-ous Christmas

TV episodes, mainly of the Neal Caffrey and White Collar variety, have occupied most of our TV/film watching time. Now as we have finished the series completely (sob) I thought I would get round to reviewing the films we watched around his Caffrey-ness and whilst we mourn the loss of him from our screens (literally.) Happy Birthday Jade!

This week has been full of firsts and lasts, and has revitalised us in time for the Christmas week. It’s Jade’s 23rd Birthday today – Happy Birthday. I’d say have a great day, but you’ve spent the weekend with me, so I know it’s been awesome. It’s really capped off an interesting week, and has led us into a bizarre one with a spring in our step. You can be a con, or a man; you can’t be both

Over the past few years, most prominently in the last 12 months, I have come to appreciate the ‘TV marathon’. Over the years I have watched many great TV shows in real-time, on series link, and marathoning on the internet. In this time I’ve experience Vampire Attacks, Spy Missions, and best of all, stake-outs. Emma introduced me to White Collar on a random, and all round hilarious evening in third year at University.

I don’t want to over sell it or anything, but it’s the best show that’s on TV.

For anyone who is a fan, there are spoilers ahead for the entire show, including the recently aired finale. Read-on with caution.

The 140 character TV show review – I blame Emma

When I first moved from County to Pendle college at Lancaster University, it’s safe to say I hated the place. I had next to no friends on campus, and I was fed up with my course. Fast forward a couple of years, I’ve graduated with a BSc Honours degree from Lancaster University in Geography, I’ve made some awesome friends, and I am travelling the world (with one of them, although I think that is going to be the first and last time I call you awesome Jade ;P) Continue reading “The 140 character TV show review – I blame Emma”
