T5W: Science Fiction and Fantasy Media Crossover

So, I’m back to posting the actual topic of the week, because this week there is an awesome crossover theme linking other forms of media other than books. I love me a good book, but, I also really enjoy a solid Science fiction world or foreign fantasy land, and done well they are equally as magical, and sometimes more memorable than those capture within the pages of a book. So, this week, I have embraced the Science Fiction and Fantasy crossover, and looked into some of my favourite SFF world’s in the media!

Top Ten Tuesday: Romance Freebie | Favourite OTP’s

In the spirit of all things Valentine’s day and romance, Jana has thrown us a romance freebie. Sometimes, I really can’t be doing with a freebie week, and find it quite difficult to settle on a topic, but this time, I’ve embraced it whole-heartedly (heart ❤ geddit!). I was thinking of romance books, and just how much I don’t love a novel when the central theme is a romantic pairing, so I abandoned all notions of writing a list of my favourite romance stories, and decided to think about my favourite pairings.

For all of you who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is, or don’t know how to get involved, click here. The lovely folks at Broke and Bookish teamed together to create this awesome weekly prompt, which is now hosted by the wonderful Jana @ The Artsy Reader Girl. Quite simply, you list the top ten of the topic prompt.

Strictly Come Dancing | Week 2

Week 2 already, it seems only yesterday that these guys were all paired up and looking scared! OK, they still look scared so some things don’t change. Tonight is where things change, tonight is where it gets tense, tonight is where the scores are combined and the voting opens ready for the first results show of the series tomorrow.

Last week, all of the celebrities took to the dance floor with their new partners, and shimmied their little hearts out. Half did a latin dance and half a ballroom, so this time the tables are turned. Their scores from last week carry over to this week and will combine to make an overall leaderboard at the end of the show. It is only once everyone has danced their second dance, and everyone has attempted a ballroom and latin number that we, the public, will get our day. To try and make it easier to keep a track of the scoring over the two weeks, I have added the combined scores for each couple after the total for their dance this week, and there is a leaderboard at the end of the post too!

Get the drinks ready, the snacks (healthy ones of course) out, and get comfy, and bring out the stars!

Strictly Come Dancing: Strictly’s Back!!!

Strictly Come Dancing is officially back. Three weeks ago the celebrities shimmied their lycra-ed selves onto the dance floor and were paired with some of the best dancers in the country ready to strut their stuff in the ballroom for us all the critique eating takeaway on the sofa. I jest. Kind of.

Last year, my friend and housemate Emma and I teamed up to write a weekly live review of the show. As much as we were pleased when the posts went, and as great as it was to look back and see what we thought, the actually writing of the post as we watched detracted from the enjoyment of the show. So this year we have abandoned the posts, and instead, I am going to do a little bit of a weekly round up and review of what I thought.

So, sit down, get comfy, and be warned…there are sparkly spoilers ahead! Continue reading “Strictly Come Dancing: Strictly’s Back!!!”

Friday Reads: Pedro, Feng Shui, and Tavern

TGIF, Thank God it’s Friday. I say it like I’ve had a really hard week. I haven’t, and I only had a day off yesterday, but I am relieved to be going into a full weekend, with an early shift on the Friday. I am picking up my new car, we’re planning to have a weekend full of house activity, and relaxation, and it is much needed. I am reading two books that I have now been reading for a little while: one is something I hoped I would quite like and have really loved, and one is one I thought I would really like, and have struggled with. Clearly, I do not know or understand what I like to read. Continue reading “Friday Reads: Pedro, Feng Shui, and Tavern”

Strictly Saturdays | The One With The Final

It has been the best Strictly, well, ever! Keeeeep Dancing!

The One when I realised Dave Arch is my (not so) secret, slightly inappropriate crush

It’s that time of year again – get out your spray cans, fish out the rhinestones and sequins I know you have stashed away, and grab the wineglasses – Strictly Come Dancing is back! Yep, you read that right, the nation’s favourite Saturday night show is back on TV. And while last night was really good, I do think Strictly makes a Saturday night, and Saturday nights are made for Strictly.

This year, I happen to be living with a good friend who is also a big Strictly fan and fellow blogger. This means only one thing – doubled-up live-blogging… because bitching comments and shameless perving shouldn’t just be reserved for our living room, it should be shared with the…masses?

Here’s how it works:
Each week myself and Emma will be bringing you a tag-team live-blog of Strictly Come Dancing. We will be alternating whose blog it is posted on so if you want to keep up-to-date with our clearly deeply insightful commentaries, then you should make sure you’re following both of our blogs.

Last week on Strictly (found here) we saw the exit of Judge Rinder, and with it, a little bit of the light and life went from the ballroom. I was never the biggest fan, I’ll be honest, but he loved it so much and he showed it through his face and his praise for Oksana. I’ll miss him!

This week, the strictly semi-final week is stepping up the risk factor with not one but two dances per couple. It’s going to be an exicting night…let’s get on with the show. Continue reading “The One when I realised Dave Arch is my (not so) secret, slightly inappropriate crush”
