New Years Resolutions | 2nd Quarter Check-In

It’s the summer! The sun is shining, the days are long and bright, Wimbledon is on the TV, and we’re closer to this year’s Christmas than we were last year’s. The first 3 months of the year were not my best, and although I am not progressing like I’d like with my weightless/health journey, I think I’m not doing too bad half way through the year!

For the past couple of years, I have made a resolutions list, and then checked back semi-regularly to hold myself accountable and actually think about things to focus my time on. My 2019 Resolutions list is once again made up of a mixed bag of motivations that were supposed to be carrying me through 2019 in a positive and healthy way. I know that I haven’t had these in the front of my mind this year for a whole host of reasons, but also know that if they were, I would probably be making bigger strides than I am this year. I checked in at the end of March to see how I was getting on and definitely think I am doing better than I thought I would be.

My list is split up into sections, just like it was on my original 2019 Resolutions list. I’ve kept it like this to see if there are any areas I’m doing better or worse in, and to allow me to look back at different parts of my life separate from the others. I’m also operating a colour scheme this year too, same as I did last year, because it seemed to work really well!

New Years Resolutions | 1st Quarter Check-In

It’s broken record time my friends, but, can you believe that we are already a quarter of the way through 2019. Winter is starting to look like it’s behind us, the clocks have changed, and spring/summer clothing is definitely in the shops! For the past couple of years, I have made a resolutions list, and then checked back semi-regularly to hold myself accountable and actually think about things to focus my time on. I feel like the first quarter of 2019 has been very mixed, in many ways, so it will be nice to think about what I have accomplished and look forward with focus, determination, and quantifiable motivations.

My 2019 Resolutions list is once again made up of a mixed bag of motivations that were supposed to be carrying me through 2019 in a positive and healthy way. DC/NYC | Day 7

New York is a city full of things to do and places to see so we had decided to cram as much into our last day as possible and not waste any of our time. We knew the 24hrs we had wasn’t enough to see the sights in New York that we would have liked to, so we packed up our cases, checked out of our hotel, and headed straight for breakfast. We were still tired from our long travel and sightseeing day but determined to make the best of our final day. Continue reading “DC/NYC | Day 7”

DC/NYC | Day 6

When we planned this trip, we had always planned to spend a decent amount of time in Washington DC and then travel up to New York and cram as much into a 24hr period as we could. So, after a last great day in Washington, we were ready to hop on the train and hot foot it up to New York City. I didn’t love NYC last time I went. I mean it is impressive, it’s good, but it’s not completely my cup of tea, so Emma and I were going to experience things more up her street and see if that changed my mind. Continue reading “DC/NYC | Day 6”

DC/NYC | Day 5

Anyone who knows me knows I like my detective crime novels, knows I like a good secret, spy story, and knows I like to visit places that are a bit hush hush, and I feel nowhere comes under that bracket quite like the Pentagon. I had excitedly applied and waited to hear if we had been cleared to visit for a tour for months, and thankfully it came in with a few days to spare. So, on a particularly rainy and miserable Washington DC day, we set out for some iconic buildings and to tour one of the most secure buildings in the world. Continue reading “DC/NYC | Day 5”

DC/NYC | Day 4

There are so many great buildings to visit and places to see in Washington DC that last time I was there I missed quite a few of the ones I wanted to do most. I almost forgot that the Library of Congress existed, and the Senate Building was undergoing construction work in preparation for the 2016 Presidential election so we never really went to that end of the mall to see anything. This time I was ready to change that, and both places were pretty high on Emma’s list too so it was a no brainer! After walking a long way on Day 3 of our trip, we had the brilliant idea to try and keep our day to a walking minimum. It didn’t happen, but it was a great day. Continue reading “DC/NYC | Day 4”

Top Ten Tuesday: Libraries and Book Stores I’d Most Like to Visit

I am a self-confessed bibliophile. I bloody love books. I love reading, I love libraries, I love book stores. I love almost everything there is to love about books. It’s probably a good job considering how much I talk about them. Top Ten Tuesday is all about connecting book lovers like myself with others, and that’s why this week’s theme is so awesome, because it’s all about other ways book lovers find new books and acquire new reads. I think we all have those book stores and libraries that we have always wanted to visit and admire, and I am the same, which is why I’ve been looking forward to this week’s top for a little while now!

For all of you who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is, or don’t know how to get involved, click here. The lovely folks at Broke and Bookish teamed together to create this awesome weekly prompt, which is now hosted by the wonderful Jana @ The Artsy Reader Girl. Then you simply get listing!
