T5W: Books that took forever to read

118368This week’s Top 5 Wednesday takes place on the second day of my week off from work. I highlight that because I have no plans for this week off, and I have just realised it as I write this. Yes, Emma and I have grand plans for this weekend that involve flat pack furniture and Strictly (I know, I know, you’re all jealous), but we would have had that off together anyway this week, so I have started to wonder why I took this week off work at all. I shouldn’t really complain, a week off work is always nice, but I kind of feel like I am wasting it! Anyway, less of the moaning and more of the reading…

2015 Bookish Resolutions

2015 is upon us, signalling a new year full of new challenges and of course, new resolutions. I completed a post all about my resolutions for 2015/2558 resolutions and New Years Eve here, so I won’t go repeating myself too much.

This post is all about my love for books, and my new resolutions regarding reading this year. I don’t know how many I am going to make, I expect quite a few, so let’s get started. Continue reading “2015 Bookish Resolutions”

The 140 character book review – Catch-up

I have read so many books in recent times, that I have decided to split the reviews over two posts. Partly because I can only cope with posts being so long, partly so readers can actually search for the review of the book they want if they actually feel like it (please, feel like it!!) and also because I can see my blog post number rise (I know, how sad). September TBR (and a vague August Haul re-cap)

So last week’s TBR went absolutely atrociously. I got no reading done (well, about 35 pages of The Perks of Being a Wallflower.) I did have a successful read-a-thon, however, so let’s take a glass half full approach and look for the positives. Clearly setting the target was good for me, I just had a lot on last week, and wasn’t very well, never productive reading circumstances. Aug 25th – Aug 31st TBR

In the wake of my first read-a-thon, I thought I would start doing a weekly TBR. I found that I read more regularly if I had a goal in mind, and even though I was a little over-ambitious last week, I decided to keep it up. I’m being less ambitious this week though!

TBR

  1. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

The Perks of Being a Wallflower Stephen Chbosky – A friend of mine recommended this to me in her final year of University, and as the film has now been out a long time, and is on the IMDb Top 250 list I wrote down in May 2013, I will have to see it at some point, and I would have liked to have read the book before I watch it. This book also seemed a lot lighter than my last read High Rise, which was just strange.

  2. Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk

Fight Club Chuck Palahniuk – I saw the film before I even knew it was based on the book. I would like to re-watch the film soon, and have decided to read the book before I enjoy the cinematic version. I hope knowing the end, the twist, won’t ruin it. We shall see!
