T5W: Teachers and Mentors in Literature

I was thinking about my blogging schedule over the coming weeks, looking at the things I like to post at this time of year, and was checking Goodreads to see what books I’ve read this month when I remembered that I hadn’t actually checked this week’s Top 5 Wednesday post. I have learnt a lot from books, I’ve been reading for, well, as long as I can remember, I don’t remember a life before books and words, so a lot of my knowledge has come from the world of literature, so I was really excited about this week’s topic.

Top Ten Tuesday: Yummy Food Books

Let me tell you, when you’re on a diet, there is nothing more tantalising to talk, dream, and think about than food. So when I saw this post, I instantly knew it would be something that I would enjoy talking about. I’m sure we’ve all experienced reading a book and coming across the section that is nothing short of saliva inducing food porn? We’ve all flicked through cookbooks and felt our mouths water whilst looking at pictures of recipes that we realistically know are too difficult for us to manage? Oh, just me…

For all of you who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is, or don’t know how to get involved, click here. The lovely folks at Broke and Bookish tam together to produce a book related topic each week, and you simply list the top ten of that topic. Continue reading “Top Ten Tuesday: Yummy Food Books”

The 140 character review – Welcome Back

I know I said that I was restarting this idea a couple of months ago, and then never actually did. But this time, I really am. I’m going to try and make it a regular Sunday posting on my blog. To give you an idea of what this is all about, click here.

I’ve also popped a few examples from posts gone by, with a link to the original 140 character review post: Continue reading “The 140 character review – Welcome Back”

Making up for Monday

button_zpsf54ece10This week, for the first time in a long time, I actually sort of kinda read what I said I would do on my TBR. I know, I know, thank you, thank you, it really is quite the achievement. I’d like to thank…. Continue reading “Making up for Monday”

The 140 character film review – Magical, musical, marvel-ous Christmas

TV episodes, mainly of the Neal Caffrey and White Collar variety, have occupied most of our TV/film watching time. Now as we have finished the series completely (sob) I thought I would get round to reviewing the films we watched around his Caffrey-ness and whilst we mourn the loss of him from our screens (literally.) Bout of Books – Day 2

I wrote yesterday that I am ahead of this Bout of Books,  and while this is technically true, I feel woefully behind on my pages read v pages left to read ratio. 269 pages wasn’t bad, but I have 5 lessons today, rather than the 2 of yesterday. Hopefully, I won’t spend as long completing the challenge(s) as yesterday.
