Coolac to Mannum

We have flown across the country over the past 2 days. I’m not even joking, I think we have drove around 1200km in 48 hours. We have also changed the direction we were planning to go. We were planning on going to Melbourne and then to Adelaide, but while we were on the highway, it split to the two places so we decided to go to Adelaide instead. The original plan had us going to Melbourne in case we didn’t have time to see Adelaide, but now as we know we have the time, the mileage, or lack there of, is more important. Queanbeyan to Coolac

The van is in the mechanics for the second time in two days. Since we have started driving until we arrived at the Coolac rest area we have had 1 leaking boot, 3 flat batteries, 3 warning lights turn on, 5 mechanic visits, and we still have two weeks left with the van. I still think we made the right decision in driving rather than taking the bus. Continue reading “Queanbeyan to Coolac”

Sydney to Queanbeyan

I can’t believe we have been in Sydney for a week and that is is time to leave already. We still had 2hrs of WiFi time left at the campsite, so instead of setting straight off, we used that to buffer a load of Once Upon a Time episodes, look at potential routes to Melbourne, and upload pictures. It may have delayed us a little leaving Sydney for the Blue Mountains, but we decided that it was probably worth it. Continue reading “Sydney to Queanbeyan”

Bout of Books Day 5

BOBSo the problems with our van are still there. They didn’t look at it yesterday, so we are still stuck in Canberra, well Queanbeyan, in the library, doing nothing useful. Well that bit isn’t true, but we aren’t on our way, or in Melbourne yet, so it’s not the useful we want. Continue reading “Bout of Books Day 5”

Bout of Books – Day 4 (a little late)

BOBYet more van drama! This time, it is not a leak, but warning lights on the dashboard that suggest a problem with the catalytic converter and our brakes. Just what you want before a 650km drive to Melbourne. As lovely as Canberra is, I don’t want to be stuck here longer than I have to be, and who knows how long this sort of problem is going to take to fix. Oh well, let’s hope it doesn’t set us too far back and that I can get a fair amount of reading done in the spare time that we now have. Continue reading “Bout of Books – Day 4 (a little late)”

Home Hill to Gin Gin

The scuba dive we did in the Great Barrier reef is right up there amongst my favourite days of our travels so far. The following morning saw Anzac day arrive, and although we weren’t up as early as those attending dawn services, we were up and out as soon as prime roo-time ended. We had planned a fairly massive driving day with multiple stops. Continue reading “Home Hill to Gin Gin”
