The Christmas Song Book Tag

I found this festive tag over on Emma @ The Terror Of Knowing’s blog, which is where I find most of my best tags if I am honest. I had a thought last week that it would be nice to try and do a festive tag on each Thursday in the lead up to Christmas, and when I read her blog, I noticed that she was doing the same thing to (in fairness, she does do Tag Thursday so maybe I actually got the idea from her in the first place….hmmm?) Be sure to check out what she has answered for the questions, and please feel free to dive in, comment, or do the tag yourself:

1. “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch”: Name a villainous character you couldn’t help but love.

I kinda have to say Count Olaf for this one. I hate everything about him and everything that he is, but I kinda love just how evil and villainous he is. He epitomises the whole ‘A villain is a hero of their own story’ archetype. I really think he thinks he is doing the best he can and doing good, just for him and no-one else, woe betide anyone who stands in his way. Continue reading “The Christmas Song Book Tag”

T5W: Characters On The Naughty List

It’s getting to that time of year again where we all get our pen and paper out and make some lists. We list all of the people that we need to send a Christmas card to, and mark whether we need to subtley acquire their address. We make a list of everyone we need to buy a gift for, and record what we’ve bought them. We begin writing our cards, and wrapping our presents, and hoping that others are doing the same for us. It’s a time for elf on a shelf, and visiting Santa, and of course, the naughty and nice lists!

T5W: Top 5 BookTube/Blogger Recommendations

It’s been a few months since I have done a Top 5 Wednesday. I have been reading a lot more blog entries, and actually watching (or listening to when my housemate is watching them) booktubers, and have therefore been reading books that I would otherwise never have known about or thought to read. I am all about a good recommendation, but I am sadly rubbish at actually giving them, so I appreciate when a good recommendation comes along!

T5W: SFF Covers

It seems like this week is all about the pretty book covers and sexy cover art that is out there, doesn’t it. Yesterday, I posted as part of Top Ten Tuesday, and to continue this on, I am also doing the T5W SFF covers to compliment it. Yey for book covers!

Bout of Books 18: Day 3

bob-expert06We’re nearly half way through Bout of Books 18, what is this madness? Not sure I am OK with how fast these readathons fly by if I am being honest with you. Not that I can do anything about it mind. I am really starting to enjoy my second book of the readathon Crooked Kingdom, and I am really hoping for a slightly less crazy day. My head felt all over the place many times yesterday!! Continue reading “Bout of Books 18: Day 3”

Friday Reads: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I don’t think I ever formally declared my intentions to participate I NanoWriMo (and if I did, I must have wiped it from my memory permanently!). I decided to pull back a little on the daily blogging I had taken to participating in during November and NanoWriMo. In part, this was to enable more writing time for NanoWriMo, but after 8/9 days I spectacularly failed so that portion of the plan didn’t really help much. The other reason was the enjoyment of blogging. I used to love writing posts for different things, different each day and week, but once I was daily blogging, and joining group blog events, I began to feel like some themes were a little repetitive, and that I was viewing it more as a chore than a hobby. And so here we are, 40 days and a couple of Strictly Saturdays blog posts later, and I am back! Continue reading “Friday Reads: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”

24hr Readathon: A progress report

Welcome friends to the 24hr readathon. Yes, that’s right, the time where we strap our selves into a chair, surround ourselves with books, and read until we can read no more. (No, not any other ordinary Saturday, we’re doing it for a reason this time). I signed up here yesterday, when I was feeling like the world was against me and was moping in a world of sicky despair. I am glad to say that I am feeling marginally better yesterday. My voice is still far from normal, my nose is running faster than Usain Bolt, and my head feels like there is a constant samba party using my eyeballs as a steel drum, but I am feeling less, well, bleurgh.
