The 140 Character Review: Series of Unfortunate Events 8-13

We’re just a few short days from the launch of A Series of Unfortunate Events season 2 on Netflix. I’m excited, and so to prepare, I’m micro-reviewing all of the books in the miserably amazing series. Last month, I looked at books 1-7, reviewing the undoubtedly tragic lives of the Baudelaire orphans, and so this Monday evening I’ve rounded the last 6 books up into one tidy list.

The 140 Character Review is my short and concise way of expressing my feelings on watch I watch and read. Throwing it back to the original twitter limit of 140 characters, I try to summarise my opinions to tweet length. To read other 140 Character Review posts, click here. The Feminist Book Tag

This week saw the world celebrate International Women’s Day. I have to admit, I let it fly by relatively under the radar. The reason, I don’t think I could possibly begin to thank everyone who has had an influence in making me who I am today, or all of the women (and men) who have made me a stronger woman. I would undoubtedly classify myself as a feminist. I definitely want equality for everyone, and so when I saw a feminist book tag @ Karis Books I definitely thought it was perfect timing.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Could Re-Read Forever

A perennial problem for all book worms and bibliophiles is what book to read next. Do we launch into a new world, or a brand new character’s head, or get lost in a familiar story that we could read over and over again? I am guilty of reading and re-reading my favourite books, I think we all are, so this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic let’s me enjoy the power of a good re-read.

For all of you who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is, or don’t know how to get involved, click here. The lovely folks at Broke and Bookish teamed together to create this awesome weekly prompt, which is now hosted by the wonderful Jana @ The Artsy Reader Girl. Quite simply, you list the top ten of the topic prompt. Continue reading “Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Could Re-Read Forever”

The 140 Character Review: Series of Unfortunate Events 1-7

I absolutely love a good children’s book. Who doesn’t, right? Last year I embarked on a re-read of the full set of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events and loved reliving the ridiculous and slightly out there stories surrounding the Baudelaire Orphans. The new Netflix Series starts next month, so, I thought I would do a 140 Character Review post to get ready for the launch. I’m so excited for season 2!

WWW Wednesday #2: 19th April 2017

So a month has gone by since I discovered the WWW posts, so I have decided to use that to my advantage and pretend I meant to make it a monthly thing. *shush* don’t tell anyone my secret *shush*. So, yes, what have I been reading? Well, a lot is the answer, thankfully. I have taken part in Tome Topple for the first time (for those of you who don’t know much about it, click here for my updates and info post) and it is going quite well. I have also finished some books lately that have been on my currently reading list since the summer of 2016, so a good blitz was very much needed.

March: It’s a Wrap

Another month has gone by already. Seriously, where on earth is this year going?? I have finally remembered to post this sort of on time. Wooooo go me! I had little excuse this month. Yes I went away, but I was back a week into the month, and I kept a more careful track of what I actually read, which made it easier to round up and actually see what I enjoyed this month! Friday Reads: Thank God It’s Friday

Ahhh, That Friday Feeling. I know everyone talks about it, but I feel like I haven’t felt it, in, well, a long while. I have the whole weekend off for the first time (holiday aside) since January. I say off, I have work things to do, housework, building furniture, and of course, it is Mothering Sunday in the UK, so I will be celebrating that with the family. Emma and I have also made grand plans to both read and blog, it’s nice to be able to set a block aside for that sort of thing. Continue reading “Friday Reads: Thank God It’s Friday”

WWW Wednesday #1: 22nd March 2017

As you will probably all be aware, I steal Emma‘s posts and copy them as I have little (read no) imagination for some things. I’ve got pretty good at regularly updating my Goodreads now, but I thought it would be nice to reflect a little at my recent, current, and future reads, and so this post seemed perfect.

February: It’s a Wrap

Yes, yes, I know, this is super late and we are way way into March. I am terrible. In my defence, I was on holiday for the first week of March, so, reallllllly, I’m not that behind. OK, so it probably isn’t true, but that is what I am telling myself to make this seem less late. I can’t believe we are nearly through a quarter of the year already. Time flies. Friday Reads: It’s almost holiday time!

Today is my last day off before I go on holiday. I am firmly on a countdown clock until I go away, and I have just 3 days left in work! I can’t wait. So where am I going, I hear you (jealously?) ask? I am going, with my Mum, to Miami/Caribbean, for almost 2 weeks and I am super excited for some winter sun, and to see more of the Caribbean Islands. And yes, I am already planning which books to take away we with me for the cruise. Continue reading “Friday Reads: It’s almost holiday time!”
