My my England is cold, eh? I’ve been used the Florida warmth and sun for the last 2 weeks, and in that time winter seems to have landed in the UK. This should be perfect, an excuse to curl up in the warmth with my laptop and write away, but that would be a little simplistic. I’m quite sure it won’t be that simple. As you might have seen from my NaNoWriMo Announcement post, I am making a serious attempt to ‘win’ NaNoWriMo and write at least 50,000 words. I tried before, 2 years ago, when I had a complicated space heist idea/concept, but it wasn’t clear enough in my mind to begin to try and write, so I abandoned it at around 10,000 words. So, this year, I have decided to think about 2 wildly different concepts in the hope of making decisions, plotting, knowing my characters, and ultimately learning to write, and I am tracking my progress through the NaNoWriMo website and a twitter thread.
Hello ladies and gentleman. You’ll never guess where I am writing this post! No, it’s not my living room, or my bedroom, or even on my lunch break, I’m on a plane, how cool is that huh? I am super excited that my holiday has finally arrived and that I am heading to Orlando for 2 weeks of sun, fun, and all things Disney. First things first though, I have a small announcement to make. I’m not really sure it’s very secret considering it’s in the title of the post, but if you missed it: I’m doing NaNoWriMo 2018! Continue reading “NaNoWriMo 2018”
It’s November. Halloween has been and gone, the shops are plastered from wall to wall, floor to ceiling with all things Christmas, and this month, it’s my birthday. If I’m honest, I didn’t accept my 21st birthday very well, or my 22nd, and certainly not my 25th. This year, I am once again face with a slight feeling of getting older with nothing to show for it, so, this year, I am going to try and make it my mission to change that. So, I decided to make a motivational list of things that I want to do between now and my next milestone birthday. Here’s my 30 before 30 list:
The nights are drawing in, the clocks go back this weekend, and spooky Halloween activities are in full swing. From next week everywhere will have their full Christmas displays on show, it gets close to my birthday and Thanksgiving, and this year we have the hotly debated and fiercely contested US election results. I can’t believe it’s that late in the year already.
As another Friday comes and goes, I am back to being on my own for the weekend as Emma is going back to Thornaby to visit her family. It’s going to be a little odd to go back to pottering round the house on my own for the weekend. I’m in work on both weekend days, but the time spent in between shifts is going to be spent sorting the house out, reading, and Nano Prep. Continue reading “Friday Reads: Spooooooooky”
Since Emma moved in, I have made a concerted effort to be more organised. In some cases, such as the state of my room, or the organisation of the downstairs areas have taken (well, are taking) longer than other aspects of my life, but it is safe to say that since she has moved in I have been developing what resembles a routine. And that’s what we need in life, no? Whether it’s remembering to cook, or actually making my bed, I am doing my best to have habits and routines that involves healthier practices, and not perfecting couch-potatoing.
