February: It’s a Wrap

Yes, yes, I know, this is super late and we are way way into March. I am terrible. In my defence, I was on holiday for the first week of March, so, reallllllly, I’m not that behind. OK, so it probably isn’t true, but that is what I am telling myself to make this seem less late. I can’t believe we are nearly through a quarter of the year already. Time flies. Friday Reads: TBR Takedown

I have had a week that has actually, for once, been fairly productive. It has been a fair while since I have had back to back days off where sleeping and recovery was not the main focus, and so I have tried to utilise them (semi) wisely. I have been to the gym twice, and actually quite enjoyed it both times (I know, shocking). I have done a bit of tidying and cleaning around the house (including putting the Christmas decorations away away, and 3 sets of laundry) and have finally felt like I am getting a hang of this bullet journal thing. TBR Takedown 5.0: TBR

Another week, another readathon. Another new readathon in fact! This time, I am tackling the TBR Takedown, a new readathon on my list, on that the lovely Emma told me about. It is a low-key readathon held by Shannon from leaninglights (her YouTube & Twitter) and this round, TBR Takedown 5.0, will start at midnight on Monday 6th February and run through until 11:59pm on Sunday 12th. Yes, it may be low-key, but there are a couple of challenges to help you on your way, and prioritise your reading, so I’m going to try and incorporate my reading!

For more information, or to read/tweet along once it gets started, see the readathon Twitter. Continue reading “TBR Takedown 5.0: TBR”

24 in 48 Readathon

24in48So…..there is this readathon on all weekend. A readathon that I’ve never heard of, but that Emma was participating in, so I thought I would give it a go. It is called 24 in 48, and it is pretty simple really: Try to read for 24hrs in a 48hr period this weekend. Seems easy enough to attempt, if you have the weekend off and stuff. But no, no way, I didn’t take this on sitting at home enjoying a weekend off, I’ve done it on a weekend where I am in both days for a full shift. Well….gotta love a challenge! Bout of Books 18: Day 3

bob-expert06We’re nearly half way through Bout of Books 18, what is this madness? Not sure I am OK with how fast these readathons fly by if I am being honest with you. Not that I can do anything about it mind. I am really starting to enjoy my second book of the readathon Crooked Kingdom, and I am really hoping for a slightly less crazy day. My head felt all over the place many times yesterday!! Continue reading “Bout of Books 18: Day 3”

Bout of Books – Day 4

When we got home from Bangkok, I felt like I was home from a holiday. I know I literally was, but it was a nice feeling considering how long it took to settle here. The bus journey was epically long, too long, but it was great once we finally rolled into Roi-Et and saw familiar places. Going to Robinsons, and then big C on Sunday was a return to the familiar too, even though we’ve only been to Robinson’s once before.  Continue reading “Bout of Books – Day 4”

Bout of Books – Day 2

I wrote yesterday that I am ahead of this Bout of Books,  and while this is technically true, I feel woefully behind on my pages read v pages left to read ratio. 269 pages wasn’t bad, but I have 5 lessons today, rather than the 2 of yesterday. Hopefully, I won’t spend as long completing the challenge(s) as yesterday.

Bout of Books 12 – My illicit TBR

BoB12-200x200I wrote a few days ago that I was going to sign up for my second Bout of Books read-a-thon. I am not sure what the experience of completing a read-a-thon minus actual books will be like, but I wanted to do something that I’d do at home. Hopefully it will be as enjoyable as the last Bout of Books I did!

I know that the lovely Amanda and Kelly have removed the goals linky from the sign-up requirements for Bout of Books 12, but I have decided to do an illicit one anyway! Continue reading “Bout of Books 12 – My illicit TBR”

Judge a book by its cover

Let’s be honest here, in all walks of life we judge books by their covers. We may say we don’t, we may like to think we don’t – but we do. I know I am very guilty of doing this with actual books – i’d like to think that proverbially, I don’t all into this trap as much.

I love books, I love reading, I love bookshelves, I love libraries, I love book shops, and I love bookends. There is nothing more I hate than getting a book and then having to give it away/sell it. Well there is, owning a partial collection (I suffer this in both the Sylvia Day Crossfire series and The Twilight saga – I never intend to re-read either, but the fact they’re not complete bugs me no end) or owning a complete collection of hotch-potch editions (again, The Twilight saga: Twilight – paperback movie edition, New Moon – paperback normal edition, Eclipse – missing, Breaking Dawn – hardback normal edition) as both mess up the (vague) order of my bookshelf.
