I can’t believe Bout of Books is over already. I feel like it was only yesterday that I signed up to Bout of Books 12! I don’t think I did that well this time round, but I have my reasons I guess. How was your readathon? Continue reading “Bout of Books 13 Round-Up”
So the problems with our van are still there. They didn’t look at it yesterday, so we are still stuck in Canberra, well Queanbeyan, in the library, doing nothing useful. Well that bit isn’t true, but we aren’t on our way, or in Melbourne yet, so it’s not the useful we want. Continue reading “Bout of Books Day 5”
Yet more van drama! This time, it is not a leak, but warning lights on the dashboard that suggest a problem with the catalytic converter and our brakes. Just what you want before a 650km drive to Melbourne. As lovely as Canberra is, I don’t want to be stuck here longer than I have to be, and who knows how long this sort of problem is going to take to fix. Oh well, let’s hope it doesn’t set us too far back and that I can get a fair amount of reading done in the spare time that we now have. Continue reading “Bout of Books – Day 4 (a little late)”
We have arrived safe and sound in the Aussie capital, and this is what I am going to blame for everything on this post. I’m finding it a little harder to keep up with Bout of Books 13 while I am on the move. Never the less, I am going to persevere with the readathon, because I still want to read and blog and stuff. Continue reading “Bout of Books: Day 3”
Today, Jade and I said goodbye to Sydney and drove to the Blue Mountains. Lots of driving and walking have severly reduced potential reading time. Now as we are back to the driving and are no longer relying on public transport like we did in Sydney, I can’t just sit and read while we go to places. Continue reading “Bout of Books 13 – Day 2”
Bout of Books is back, and I am excited. The last time I completed the Bout of Books readathon, I was an English Teacher in Thailand. Things have changed. I now call the back of a camper van in Australia home as Jade and I drive the long distance from Cairns to Sydney.
What hasn’t changed? I still love reading, and Bout of Books.
In Thailand, when someone says ‘meet here at 10am’, or ‘the train leaves at ‘3:45pm’ you know that really, you will be waiting around for at least an hour longer than that. The phenomenon of Thai time bugged me when I first arrived here, but after living here for so long now, I’ve adjusted pretty well. To the extent that I am now posting this a day late. (It’s better than the week late posts that will be appearing over the next few hours/days though!!) Continue reading “Friday Reads: Thai Time”
I can’t believe I haven’t done one of these for a few weeks, oh well. Continue reading “Friday Reads – Closing time….”
My Friday Reads are becoming more successful. After the travesty that was the first weekend, where absolutely nothing was read at all, and then last weekend where I read some of what I pledged to read, let’s hope this weekend actually sees me reach (and exceed….but lets not get too over-excited eh?) target. Continue reading “Friday Reads – February 6th”
