October TBR

Autumn is most definitely here. It’s jumper weather, soup is on the menu, and I am curling under the blanket at night more often than I am not. I love this time of year, especially for reading, and I am so ready! I struggled a little with reading in September after what was a reading packed summer, and I’m feeling ready for some fall stories. I really love this time of year and I have a lot of early starts this month that should leave time for me to read in the afternoons before Emma gets home.

Once again, we’re going on holiday again this month. We’re away for a little longer this time, off to enjoy the sunny temperatures in Florida and to introduce Emma to Disney. As we’re not going until the back end of the month, I am probably going to do a holiday TBR that will see me into November too.

Fall Book Tag

Can you feel that? It’s the first real cold morning of this year’s Fall. The temperature dropped below 10 degrees into real get your boots on and coats out of the cupboard levels, and my breath could actually be seen in my car. Pumpkin Spiced Lattes are firmly on the menu, Halloween is creeping into the shops, as are the lovely sight of jumpers and boots, and going to the football is soon going to become a lesson in how many layers you can wear and retain the ability to walk easily and sit down painlessly. The leaves are even turning the lovely shades of orange and red that signals Autumn is well and truly here! Continue reading “Fall Book Tag”

Fall TBR

It’s the middle of September and just a couple of days away from officially being Autumn. I can’t quite believe that we’re already into Fall. Pumpkin Spiced Lattés are already back on the menu, jumpers are coming out of the closet, and boots are back in the shops. I really love this time of the year, from now until New Year is definitely my favourite few months and this year, I get to through Disney into the mix too!

With autumn looming, I thought it was high time to construct a Fall TBR, and it so happened to coincide nicely with this weeks Top Ten Tuesday post. I have found it much easier to stick to TBRs this year than I have in the past, so I’m hoping to commit to reading a mix of books over the next few months to lessen my TBR and ARC piles. That’s the plan at least!

Finally Fall Book Tag

Howdy folks! I’ve been tagged by the lovely Emma @ The Terror of Knowing to do the Finally Fall Book Tag. The leaves on the trees are changing colour, the nights are drawing in, the temperature has taken a nose dive, Christmas has definitely arrived in the shops, and more nights than not I am sitting with the fire and/or a hot water bottle to stay cosy. Add these all up and it means that fall has arrived and made itself comfy. But I can’t take any of the credit for this autumnal gem, it was created by Alina aka Tall Tales – check our her video if you get the chance!

1. In fall, the air is crisp and clear: name a book with a vivid setting!
When I think about books with a vivid setting, I instantly recall the vivid details in which the different London’s are described in Shaes of Magic by V. E. Schwab. The rich smells, colours, and textures described leave the reader in doubt as to which world they are experiencing, adding another dimension to the already rich story.

Top Ten Tuesday: Fall Reads

I am partial to a little bit of autumn. I love the fall, it’s by far my favourite season. It screams candles and crunching leaves and cardigans and jumpers and boots and football under the floodlights and nights in by the fire and thanksgiving and bonfire night and my birthday and Christmas preparations. It’s just the best time of the year.

For all of you who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is, or don’t know how to get involved, click here. The lovely folks at Broke and Bookish tam together to produce a book related topic each week, and you simply list the top ten of that topic.

Seasonal Goals

The weather is changing, the days are getting shorter, and I am looking longingly at my jumpers, which can mean only one thing: autumn is coming! And with autumn comes lots of things that I love, proper football nights under the floodlights, hot chocolates and fancy lattes, pumpkins and Hallowe’en, Thanksgiving and lots of friends and family birthdays. I love autumn, it’s probably my favourite season.

Friday Reads: Friday Watches

So, apparently Friday reads is all about announcing what you’re going to read, and then actually reading according to said announcement. I’ve, well, not been reading much lately. And by much, please read only necessary things for work, or frivolous procrastination efforts in the form of articles about Selasi from Bake-Off. I don’t know whether i am struggling with reading because of A Storm of Swords, or I’m struggling with A Storm of Swords because I am struggling with the actual act of reading a book.

So, in replacement of Friday reads, I am doing a Friday watches, which is essentially going to be a celebration of all things Fall TV, and their comebacks. Enjoy! Continue reading “Friday Reads: Friday Watches”
