Would you believe if if I told you that I am finally buying less books and reading the books that I already owned? It was worth a try I guess? In my defence, I has been 3 months since I posted Book Haul #12 because I have been making an effort to actually buy less books. I know, you’re probably disagreeing, but I have now stopped purchasing Book subscription boxes, and I am thinking long and hard before I actually buy any books. I have definitely made a little bit of an effort to read books I already owned or have been on my TBR for a while as well, as well as ARCs, which has been fun.
It has been a whole 4 months (well three and a half but who’s really counting) since I posted a haul post. I think that is a testament to just how much I really am trying to buy less books. I have a few pre-ordered and a couple of illumicrates/book box crates due in the coming months, but I am actually buying less books over all. I’m also reading more of the books I own and trying to clear my ARC Net Galley shelf at the moment, so buying books is taking second priority to this. The by-product – more money for my holidays and less book haul posts. That said, this isn’t a short one. I saved a few books up and waited until there was a decent list, so sit back and enjoy this eclectic mix.
Well well, we’re back here again already, this time with a slightly shorter list. And there’s good reason too! I just about had enough books to put together a book haul and decided that now is the time to go on a ban. I have a Book Box Club, and Willoughby Book Club subscription currently rolling, and I’ve pre-ordered a signed copy of a novel due out at the end of May, so I think it’s time to stop buying books on the side and actually think about saving money!
But this month, well, this month I have splurged a little on a book I’ve had my eye on for a while, and also finally added books I was donated a while ago and kept on forgetting about! There is a real mixed bag of titles on here, and I’m excited about it! So, without further ado, let’s see the books:
Here we are again, hands up who’s surprised? Why am I not surprised that precisely zero hands shot in the air there? In my defence, I have come to the realisation that I need to stop buying books this year, and as my eagerly awaited pretty edition of Children of Blood and Bone has been released, I can stop buying. That’s the plan anyway. We’ll see how long it actually lasts! I think the amount I am building through my bookish savings jar has made me realise that this is a brilliant way for me to save money. It hasn’t stopped me reading or hauling, but it has allowed me to save a lot of spending money for Disney already!
Also, Happy International Women’s Day! Can we just take a second to discuss how many of these books are by awesome female authors? Continue reading “Book Haul #10”
It may be a new year, but some things never change because yes, I am still hauling books. I have slowed down a lot over the past few months, but, my last haul post was pre-Christmas, pre-TBTB Santa, and pre-sales, so there have been quite a few books hauled over the last 2 months! I can’t be blamed for a lot of them, as they were gifts, or purchased using vouchers and gift money! For some reason I have found that this book haul post has featured a lot of very pretty books. Yes, I think a lot of books are very pretty, but this month just seems to feature a lot of really beautiful covers and art work. Let’s get on with the show:
Welcome one and all to the final instalment (probably) of Liz’s 2017 Book Haul. I say probably, I’ll be surprised if another one creeps in before the New Year, but I guess you never know what I’ll get for Christmas, or treat myself to after opening my presents. That, and I don’t know what is due to arrive in my TBTB Santa box! I know that it’s only been a month since I posted Book Haul #7, and that in that post I said that I was going better at refraining from buying books. Well, it’s been my birthday since then, AND I hadn’t discovered the book swap AND I needed to stock up on festive reads. So really, it’s not a surprise at all.
It has been almost 2 months since I last posted a book haul, and for me, that is a seriously good amount of time. Book Haul #6 followed Book Haul #5 after just over a week, a stupidly short time even for me, so, I decided to try and make a concerted effort to buy less books. And d’you know what, in the large part I really think that I have succeeded, because there are not that many on here, for me, for a 2 month period, and many of them were bought in the last 10 days in a spending flurry. Well, I’m not eating unhealthily, and I can’t have chocolate, so I need a vice, OK?
I also had to use a different back drop this month because I quickly realised that the shortening days and my work schedule didn’t allow me to use my normal trusted spot. So, I decided to jazz up the background with my favourite picture: a black and white shot of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco where the bridge only has been left in it’s distinctive orange/red hue. I love that picture.
I told you that this would follow pretty soon. In fact, Book Haul #5 was only a week ago. Don’t worry, I didn’t acquire all these books in the week that I was away, I had been collecting them for a while and kept forgetting to actually write a post. Yes, I have already started Book Haul #7, but in my defence I haven’t been to a charity shop in a while so I had a tri-purchase accident this morning. I have been doing much better of late and thinking more before I hit buy on Amazon or snaffle all the books in the shop. I even went to big book shops in NYC and left every book on their shelves (it was difficult!)
So, here we are again, looking at more photographs of books that I absolutely did not need but have acquired anyway! This has post has been quite a while in the pipeline now, so some of them I’ve actually already read and enjoyed! Not sure there needs to be anymore pre-amble, let’s get on with the show…
Soooooo, we’re here again already. In my defence, this book haul is only being posted so close to the last one because I was struggling with personal issues surrounding writing posts. I haven’t bought all these books in a couple of weeks That said, it’s still a large number of books to admit to buying, or receiving, since the beginning of the year. Last time round, (view here) I admitted that I was buying lots of books and…well…that’s not changed. I’ve bought 21 books this haul. That’s not too b….who am I kidding, it’s bad. I’m loving it.
