Top Ten Tuesday: Longest Books I’ve Read

Good evening folks! Normal service has been resumed here at Travel in Retrospect, which means I have taken another of these great Top Ten Tuesday post ideas and twisted into something that works for me. This week, the topic is longest reads. I know that I have read quite a number of long books, and also know that this list would realistically be Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and A Song of Ice and Fire only, so I decided to look at both longest books I’ve read, books I’m surprised were that long, books that were the earliest I remember diving into and books that were way way to long for there own good. What can I say, it’s a mixed bag as always!

For all of you who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is, or don’t know how to get involved, click here. The lovely folks at Broke and Bookish teamed together to create this awesome weekly prompt, which is now hosted by the wonderful Jana @ The Artsy Reader Girl. Then you simply get listing! T5W: Top 5 BookTube/Blogger Recommendations

It’s been a few months since I have done a Top 5 Wednesday. I have been reading a lot more blog entries, and actually watching (or listening to when my housemate is watching them) booktubers, and have therefore been reading books that I would otherwise never have known about or thought to read. I am all about a good recommendation, but I am sadly rubbish at actually giving them, so I appreciate when a good recommendation comes along!

If you want to find out more, or take part in, Top 5 Wednesday, click here to find Lainey and Samantha’s Goodreads page.

Friday Reads does Tome Topple 4: Sign Up, and TBR

I love me a good readathon, and folks, there’s a curling one coming up.  It’s time for Tome Topple, the readathon when bibliophiles like myself get all of our biggest books and attempt to read/weight lift these tomes together. It’s my second Tome Topple readathon, and last time (click here to view my posts from last time) I managed to read a couple of long books that I’d been meaning to for a while, so I’ve eyed up some longer books to go on my Tome Topple TBR.

So, what is it? Well, Tome Topple is a two week readathon created by Sam aka Thoughts on Tomes and this time the readathon is taking place from midnight in your timezone on 4th August until 11:59pm on 17th August. The aim of this readathon is to read big books, aka books over 500 pages aka “tomes”, so unlike many readathon, it’s about the number of pages in a book rather than the quantity of books you manage to finish over the fortnight. Want more information, you can watch Sam’s announcement video or check out the readathon Twitter page and/or the Goodreads group.

Bout of Books 19/USA Trip TBR

This week is a big week for me. I am leaving on an action packed trip on Wednesday to the USA, and this week is Bout of Books 19 too. I technically signed up last week here, but I wanted to create a Bout of Books 19/USA Trip TBR list. I have a few days of the readathon, then I fly to the USA, so all in all I need around 12 days of books to read for all occasions. Continue reading “Bout of Books 19/USA Trip TBR”

April: It’s a Wrap

Look, Look, I am actually posting a wrap post on time. What is happening in the world?! I have gotten back into a real reading, reviewing, and blogging routine at points of this month, which is probably why I remembered this so quickly!

OK, so this month that number/volume of reviews is going to be quite a lot shorter than usual. That said, I am still pretty pleased with my progress because I have finished some books that have been on my currently reading list for literally months, and I have read a lot of long books. I completed the Tome Topple readathon this month, the point of which is to read books over 500 pages together, so the fact I have actually managed to read 6 books this month is pretty good going. WWW Wednesday #2: 19th April 2017

So a month has gone by since I discovered the WWW posts, so I have decided to use that to my advantage and pretend I meant to make it a monthly thing. *shush* don’t tell anyone my secret *shush*. So, yes, what have I been reading? Well, a lot is the answer, thankfully. I have taken part in Tome Topple for the first time (for those of you who don’t know much about it, click here for my updates and info post) and it is going quite well. I have also finished some books lately that have been on my currently reading list since the summer of 2016, so a good blitz was very much needed.

WWW Wednesday is currently hosted by Sam at Taking On A World Of Words so pop over to her blog if you want to see more readers’ WWW Wednesday posts. Continue reading “WWW Wednesday #2: 19th April 2017”
