Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag

I have taken part in the Bookish Naughty or Nice tag before and love that it seems to have become a Blogmas staple! When I took part last time I reviewed my life prior and think this time round I am just going to review the last year, seems fair right?

The lovely Jenn @ Jenniely came up with the festive treat a couple fo years back, and as the wonderful Jenna @ J K Exploring tagged me in it this year, I thought I’d quite like to find out if I have been any better this year. I have tagged a few of you lovely people at the bottom, but as always if you would like to take part, please consider yourself tagged.

Rules

– Tag & link the person who tagged you
– Tag and link me/this post (if you would be so kind, I love reading your answers!)
– Tick/cross off the ones you’ve done
– Tag another 10 people!

1. Received an ARC and not reviewed it 😈

Honestly, yes I have. I would love to say that it wasn’t the case but there are a couple of ARCs on my shelves that I should have read and reviewed by now but I haven’t. I don’t feel great about it.

2. Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley 😈

So, despite my new year’s resolution to get this to 80% and despite it being higher than 70% at points this year, at the time of writing it sits down at 56%. I’m not happy or proud of this, and I am trying to make sure I read more books from my Net Galley list.

3. Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did) πŸ˜‡

I haven’t done this, no. I don’t partially review, so I either just rate it and never promise/complete a review, or I review in full so an unfulfilled review promise rarely happen.

4. Folded down the page of a book 😈

Look I dog ear pages OK? I fold down the page to keep track of where I am up to, I do it to keep track of something I like or a bit I want to quote or show someone and I am not ashamed of it. I do it to my own books, what’s the big deal?

5. Accidentally spilled on a book πŸ˜‡

I don’t actually think I am spilled anything onto a book this year. I’ve read a lot of audiobooks and have read a lot in places where there were no drinks nearby so I think I might be innocent.

6. DNF a book this year 😈

I have. I still don’t like DNF-ing a book but I am accepting and recognising that there is a place for doing it and that it should be OK to stop reading something you are not enjoying.

7. Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it πŸ˜‡

Have I bought pretty editions of books because they’re pretty? Sure! Have I bought copies of books I’ve already read so I own a nice edition? Yes. I don’t think I have bought a book purely because it’s pretty with no intention to read it though. That isn’t me!

8. Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework) 😈

I have read when I should have been blogging. I have read at work between calls. I have read when I should have been sleeping. I have read when I should have been doing a lot of things, what can I say, I like reading.

9. Skim read a book πŸ˜‡

I don’t really ever skim read, but I am a speed reader by default so I guess by accident I do end up doing this. I’ve not intentionally skim read though.

10. Completely missed your Goodreads goal 😈

I haven’t before this year but I fear I will do this year. I ambitiously set it at 100 at the beginning of the year and raced there, and now less than a month to go before the end of the year I am 35 books short from my revised goal of 150.

11. Borrowed a book and not returned it to the library πŸ˜‡

Aside from the confession last year, I have returned everything I have borrowed this year barring one book that should have gone back last week but I haven’t finished yet and wanted to complete before returning it.

12. Broke a book buying banπŸ˜‡

I actually haven’t banned myself from buying books in a while so there was no ban to break. I used to but in the last year I reasoned that I liked buying books and didn’t spend money on what other people consider necessities so I have been on a ban to break.

13. Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about πŸ˜‡

No technically no, because I either review in full or I don’t review at all so I haven’t had a situation yet where I have forgotten a book midway through the review writing process.

14. Wrote in a book you were readingπŸ˜‡

I haven’t done this in the past year but I am not opposed to it at all for review purposes or because I liked something, or because I am gifting a book I enjoyed this year and wanted to put a message in the front.

15. Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads πŸ˜‡

No, I make sure it’s on Goodreads so I can track what I have read and finished that year. The dates read aren’t always correct but they’re all on there.

16. Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friendπŸ˜‡

I don’t think I have borrowed books from friends in the last year actually. Except from my housemate, but they stay under the same roof so that doesn’t count.

17. Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book πŸ˜‡

No I don’t think I have. I have actually lent books to friends, and I am quite willing to share my books if it helps spread the word about reading or a particular story.

18. Broke the spine of someone else’s bookΒ πŸ˜‡

I don’t think so, because I don’t really crack the spine of a book at the best of times. I am not against doing it, I just don’t, and overall I haven’t borrowed that many books in the last year.

19. Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged 😈

Oh I am so guilty of doing this. I know I should leave the jacket on as I end up damaging the book and the cover more with it off, but I always have the best of good intentions that I will be able to look after it better if I take the jacket off before I start reading.

20. Sat on a book accidentally 😈

Oh yes, I do this often. Not just sit, I’ve lay on books, stood on books, done lots of things to books accidentally.

So how did I do?

Naughty 😈 8

Nice πŸ˜‡Β 12

Hey hey, look who has been a little ‘better’ this year and is doing alright. I think I am better at managing my bookish time, goals, bans, and all round bookish behaviour. This means I can get all the books for Christmas, right?

Once again, I preface this tag list by saying that I am rubbish at tagging and checking tags etc, so I apologise if you have done it/don’t want to do it/aren’t interested etc, as this specifically says 10, I chose 10 names to get the ball rolling. If you would like to take part and aren’t in the list, consider yourself tagged anyway and join in the fun!

  1. I’m glad you got a chance to take part in the tag!!

Your answer about borrowing from your housemate reminded me that I let my last roommate borrow a book and asked if i could have it back a week before the lease was up and she ignored me so I went in her room next time she was gone and found it. No shame.
