Pssst, c’mon over here, I have a secret for my fellow book lovers and Hogwarts students! Professor Flitwick is offering all prospective OWLs and NEWTs candidates the opportunity to submit coursework that will help you during exam season. It’s running next week, from 8th -14th October, so why don’t you join me and my classmates. It’s always worth putting a little work in early in the term!
For those of you who are less clue’d in on what I am talking about, or want more information, the wonderful Gi of The Book Roast is hosting a week long readathon to accompany the month long exam binges she hosts. This little readathon is handily tied into the O.W.Ls Readathon and N.E.W.Ts readathon that she held this year (and hopefully every year), and allows the reader the chance to extend their reading window and give themselves a chance to earn themselves more magical qualifications. For more information, why don’t you check out Gi’s announcement video, or Professor Flitwick’s owl! Let’s see what spells I’m going to be practicing:
Read a book that’s first in a series
Ms. Marvel Vol. 1 by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona
Read a book that’s top of your TBR
Saga Vol. 9 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples
Read a book with the word ‘fire’ or ‘flame’ in the title/series name, or flame picture on the cover
The Burning Page by Genevieve Cogman
Read a book that tickles you the right way (exciting theme/trope/genre)
Shades of Magic: Steel Prince Issue #1 by V E Schwab, Enrica Eren Angiolini, and Andrea Olimpieri
Read a book with a light cover
Our Dark Duet by V E Schwab
I have tried to be quite clever this week and mix the desire to read things by V E Schwab, wanting to complete all of the challenges, and wanting to read some things for my Book Riot Read Harder challenge. 4 out of 5 of the reads on the list will cross challenges off elsewhere and I am going to end up reading some things that I’ve been looking forward to for quite a while. I didn’t want to feel like I was cheating too much so I did throw in two books to break up the graphic novels, either way though, it should be a good week!
If you want to take this week one step further, Gi has also organised an Instagram challenge to coincide with this readathon too!
Have you taken part in O.W.Ls or N.E.W.Ts before (or want to)?
Are you taking part? What will you be reading for your Charms coursework?
