This topic comes up in various forms across similar memes and tags and is something I have done in many forms before. It has, however, been a while since I did one. So, when I saw that this week’s topic was favourite book covers, I adapted that to be covers of new releases in 2018. The reason? There has been some seriously pretty books released this year so it makes for one stunning post!

1. Vengeful V E Schwab
With it’s clever homage to elements of the story and the consistent styling that matches Vicious (The first in the Villians series), this special Illumicrate exclusive edition is absolutely gorgeous and just spectacular. The fact it’s predominantly red (my favourite colour is a great bonus). The normal edition is pretty epic too.
2. Children of Blood and Bone Tomi Adeyemi
I super hyped for this book, and was completely taken by the bold cover art and the red sprayed edges that came on this special edition. The slight foiling and simplistic art is really beautiful and engaging.
3. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle Stuart Turton
This cover really is a lesson in less can sometimes be more. The bold and stark contrasts between the gold, red and black is enticing and yet keeps the secrets of the book that lies within. I bought this after picking up and admiring it in the shop that many times that I couldn’t put it down.
4. Eve of Man Giovanna and Tom Fletcher
If the previous book was a masterclass in simplicity, this is a masterclass in making the dust jacket and the naked hardback equally as beautiful with or without each other. The book itself is a beautiful white with gold foiling creating a maze linking the two lead characters. The outside is a beautiful deep grey/black with glitter embedded to appear almost galaxy-esque.
5. The Chalk Man C J Tudor
This book looks and actually feels like a chalkboard. The use of words and simple images written in chalk give a great visual representation of the title of the book, and the continuations of this onto the spine and the sprayed edges is genius.
Honorable mentions
Hangman Daniel Cole
Boneless Mercies ARC April Genevieve Tucholke
The Queens of Innis Lear Tessa Gratton
