August: It’s a Wrap

August has been and gone, and with it the summer seems to be disappearing into distant memory and the fall is fat approaching. I’m actually OK with this even though I love the heat and the good weather, because I am going on holiday twice, the football season is back, and I can curl up on the sofa with a blanket and read much better in the autumn months. That said, I have managed to do a fair amount of reading in August and have read some ‘proper’ books, some that have been on my shelf for a long time, and some that I have been desperate to read for quite some time. NEWTs Readathon, Bout of Books, and The Full Monte have really helped keep my reading pace up this month, and I’ve made some new and awesome friends along the way too!

In August, I read 13 books, which is 4390 pages, and all of which are new reads to me.

I read 12 fiction books and 1 non-fiction book, a mix of Romance, Children’s, YA, Fantasy, Classics, True Crime, Comics/Graphic Novels and Contemporary

By Format, I read 1 Audiobooks, 4 Paperbacks, 6 Comic/Graphic Novel and 2 Hardbacks/Flexibound.

The average rating was 4.2/5 Stars for all of the books that I read in August.

I’ve read some good books this month, but the ‘Books of the Month’ for August is…

This Savage Song by V E Schwab

I am really quite pleased with my reading performance this month as I had a busy month full of work things and not many days off. This month is going to be a little more chilled out. I am away for a few days in Barcelona, I have a chunk of days off, we’ll be celebrating my Gran’s birthday, and we’re on the final countdown to Disney, so things are looking up. August has been the second or third month in a row where I have been reading books for the sake of reading challenges, and while I have loved it and it’s made me read more, I am ready to read whatever takes my fancy when I put a book down, y’know?

I’m ready for a book filled September, are you? Check out my TBR!

How has your August gone? What did you read?

Have you read any of these books? What did you think?

  1. I am so happy to see that Saga is still a great graphic novel, I have yet to pick up the volumes following #3 because I keep forgetting to put them on hold. I hope you reading next month/this month is just as good if not better!

  2. Seems like you had a wonderful reading month! I love the stats you give out over the month, and glad you enjoyed Fangirl. How did you like the Narnia series? I vaguely remember The Horse and His Boy and remember liking it, but it seems like you didn’t like this one.

    1. I did, it was a great month, and I think doing a proper stats post is a really great way to see what and how you’re reading.
I quite like Narnia, but The Horse and His Boy dragged and wasn’t great for me!
      Thanks for commenting 😊

  3. Lots of 5 stars in there 🙂 I finally got around to reading Fangirl this year and enjoyed it quite a bit. I still need to pick up the rest of Saga, as I’ve only read the first volume (and loved it). Hope September is a wonderful reading month too!
