Eek, welcome, hi there! It’s already Bout of Books time and I am super excited. It’s the third Bout of Books readathon of 2018, the 23rd edition overall, and my 12th time joining in with what has become my favourite readathon around. I was in a reading slump last time round and that really affected my involvement and enjoyment last time round. I’m glad to report that’s not the case this time round, I’m reading and enjoying the books I’m experiencing too. Let’s get signed up!
Bout of Books is a great online readathon, and community, and for the a week this August we’re picking up our books (whatever books you want to read) and reading them at your own pace (I mean it, whether you read a book a day, or a page a week), we’re chatting on twitter, and we’re having a laugh. C’mon, join us, you know you want to!
So, what’s the deal? What’s it all about? Well:
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 20th and runs through Sunday, August 26th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional.
For all Bout of Books 23 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
Once again, I have the honour and privilege of being a Bout of Books expert. Keep an eye out for me stalking you all on as many forms of social media outlets as I can manage, supporting where I can, and all round getting involved. If you have any questions, please drop me a line on here or find me on twitter @LizHannah25 or instagram @LizWhitehouse25.
This time round, I am not in a reading slump and hoping to get some serious reading done. I think my lack of reading ambition last time road really hampered my enjoyment, so I’m planning to be back with a bang actively involved in all the challenges on Instagram, and daily posts, chatting on Twitter and just getting super involved.
Personal Challenges
As always, I set myself some personal goals each readathon, and once again they remain the same as always. I think I have found a good level of engagement with the readathon and the people who take part with these, and if I can complete them then I will be super happy!
- Read/listen to 3 books from 3 different genres.
- Get involved with any/all challenges set daily by the lovely hosts
- Participate in all twitter chats that my work schedule permits, and engage with my fellow Bout of Book-ers!
- Read and comment on other Bout of Books blog posts, and see what others are doing during the week.
TBR
I am actively taking part in NEWTs Readathon throughout the month of August. It’s a challenge based readathon and I have lots of reads lined up for it, so I will be reading some combination of the following titles:
Are you going to take part in Bout of Books 23?

I haven’t yet worked out my TBR for #BoutofBooks 23. I’m doing the #NEWTsReadathon2018, too, but I have yet to figure out what to read for the second-tier tasks, and by the time Bout of Books 23 gets here, I’ll hope to be starting on tier-three challenges!

I have no idea where I’ll be up to with NEWTs when it gets to Bout of Books, I’ll probably edit the picture matrix as I read stuff and narrow the choices down. I’m hoping to be reading some Exceeds and Outstandings by then but we’ll see. Fingers crossed. I’m hoping the readathons will help each other!!
