Good evening witches, wizards, and muggles, and welcome to the NEWTs readathon sign up post. Gintare of Bookroast hosted the first magical readathon in April when I first sat my OWLs, but a reading slump and poor performance meant I jumped at the chance to resit in July. A last minute reading push has meant that I completed my Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, Astronomy, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, History of Magic, and Muggle Studies, and now as August has rolled round, it’s time to sit the dreaded NEWTs during the Magical Readathon happening for the whole of the month of August. For more readathon information, check out Gintare’s announcement video, or head over to the readathon hashtag on Twitter.
Now, how do you choose your NEWTs subjects? Well, that’s entirely dependant on which OWLs you passed during the last readathon (hence my July resit) and this time round it works on a level up system. Each Acceptable, Exceeds Expectations, and Outstanding challenge requires an individual book and to progress from Acceptable to Exceeds Expectations to Outstanding you must finish the challenge before first. Yep, I suddenly see why these are nastily exhausting! I’m aiming to try and get at least Acceptable in every subject I’m sitting, and at least 3 Outstandings, so let’s see what I’m going to be reading:

A – Set in the past
The Horse and His Boy C S Lewis

That’s a lot of books to read in just a month, but I’m determined to do well this exam season readathon! Ideally, I’ll read everything but I know realistically I won’t have time to read everything even with Bout of Books. I’m going to be tracking and updating my progress through this Twitter thread.
Are you taking part in the NEWTs Readathon?
What will you be reading?
Your TBR looks awesome, I am taking part as well and I posted my TBR on my blog already. I am all over the place with my TBR so I am actually looking forward to it since I am such a mood reader. Best of luck!

Thanks! I am a bit of a mood reader too, I am sure this will change at least 10 times during the course of the readathon but it’s good to set goals and have reads in mind for when I flounder later on haha! Good luck!

Looks like a great reading month ahead of you. I’m dying to get my hands on more Saga! I just read the first volume in June. I also really should get around to This Savage Song because it’s been on my shelf for months. Oops. Good look sitting for your NEWTs. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on many of these books after you read them!
