Books I’ll Probably Never Read Tag

I haven’t done one of these tags for quite some time, but the lovely Lucinda @ Lucinda is Reading... tagged me in this little number and it intrigued me. I have quite the fascination in reading posts about what books people don’t like or aren’t interested in that are popular, so it was the perfect time to be tagged, thanks Lucinda!!

Without much preamble, let’s get on with the show:

A really hyped book you’re not interested in

I don’t really want to limit this down to a single John Green book, but I would probably say The Fault in Our Stars. John Green is not an author I am interested in reading anything by, and The Fault in Our Stars is so hyped that I’ve almost been put off it at this point.

A series you won’t start/won’t be finishing

I read a book in the Joona Linna series by Lars Kepler. It’s a series of Scandinavian detective/drama thrillers and although I liked the book I read in that series, I have no interest in reading any further. I didn’t love the type of book that it was and it didn’t make me want to read anything further, so I definitely don’t think I’ll be finishing the other instalments.

A classic that you’re not interested in

I mean this list is going to be loooooong because I am not super into classics at all. I think realistically anything by Jane Austen, or anything by a Brontë sister. I think Mansfield Park and Jane Eyre are two classics that I don’t have any interest in reading at all.

Any genres you’ve never read

Erm, I’m not so into horror. I don’t really enjoy it as a form of entertainment in books or films. I have read a few psychological thrillers that border on horror, but really it’s not a genre I have ever read or have any interest in.

A book on your shelves that you’ll probably never actually read

I tend to only really buy and collect books that I actually have some interest in reading, so I don’t really have many things I don’t think I’ll ever get to. That said, I do have The Appendices from The Lord of the Rings and have precisely no interest in ever picking that up, so yes, I will say that.

I’m not really into tagging specific people too much, aside from Emma @ The Terror of Knowing who is pretty much always going to get a mention. So, if you fancy a go and would like to post on your site then consider yourself tagged! I’d love to see your answers!

  1. This seems like a fun tag to do — I might blog it sometime and link back 🙂 I’m curious if you read any other John Green books before you writing off TFIOS? I didn’t like any of his other stuff but enjoyed TFIOS. I’m not pushing you to read it, just thought it was kind of a lightning-in-a-bottle type of book that is different from most of his other stuff.

    1. It’s fun to think about books you don’t like or aren’t interested in instead of reads you’re highly anticipating.
Ive never read anything by John Green no, but I don’t reach much YA contemporary (by that I mean any, I’ve only ever really enjoyed When Dimple Met Rishi) so I’ve ruled him out on that basis. The film adverts irritated me and didn’t seem up my street so I’ve probably been a little harsh on him as he is the name I know of that genre.
One day when it’s become a somewhat forgotten or less hyped read maybe I’ll give it a go
