Fat Friday: Week 23

Good evening folks. Have you recovered from the Beast from the East? How about from Storm Emma? It was a busy week in the travel industry and I for one am very glad that I have a weekend off. And it’s perfect timing for Mother’s Day too, I’m pleased that I’m off again. Do you have any plans for the weekend, and for the big day? I’m going for dinner with my Mum, Gran, and family on Sunday, so, aside from that I am going to be plowing on with the healthy eating.

Fat Friday is a weekly blog post tracking my weight loss and fitness journey, used to keep myself accountable, keep a record of my progress, and share hints & tips that have helped me. To track my progress, or read my previous entries, click here.

So, last week, well I’m glad it’s over. I work for an airline rewards scheme, we’re based in the UK, which means we have had an awful lot of disruption over the last few days. Lots of rescheduled flights, lots of rescheduled holidays, and lots of calls. I’m glad I’ve got to help people, but it hasn’t half been a busy week.

That has come with advantages and disadvantages. There was a bit of snow which made getting to work a bit challenging one day, so I had to leave early, and it meant I couldn’t face the whole exercise thing right then. It’s meant I have had a little less free time around it, and what free time I have had I’ve spent relaxing (well, mainly reading). It has meant I haven’t snacked (as much) or over-eaten, which has most definitely been good.

I got out for a walk with my parents this week too. It was just to out local waterfront but it has reminded me just how much I would like to get out and do some proper walking. My parents are going to the Lake District in a few weeks so I’m hoping to jump in on one day to do a walk, and maybe start to get out and about a bit more as the weather improves. If I am honest, I’m done with this weather now. I’m ready for some dry days. I’m ready for some warmer days. I’m ready to go outside and enjoy the outdoors a little more.

Emma is away at home this weekend to visit her family, and I have no idea what I am going tomorrow. I am debating an exercise class, or the gym depending on what time I get up. I know I need to do some bits and bobs around the house, so I might try and get some hoovering, tidying, cleaning and washing up done, but again it depends on what time I get up and what I actually feel like doing. The washing up has to be done, I’m running out of mugs (which is a miracle in our house) and the kitchen is a mess. We had a washing machine disaster yesterday, so I am hoping to be able to get some of the clothes together on a drying rack rather than hanging away from each other as close the the radiators as I can manage.

D’you know what? For the first time in this whole process I feel a little different. I don’t look at myself in the mirror and see it yet – after all they say that you notice last – but I feel a little different. I notice when I eat crappy foods, I can feel the difference in me. I also notice that I feel fitter when I go on the machines in the gym or when I take part in zumba. I’m hoping that it continues, because losing weight was only half the battle, a lot of it was to feel better.

WEIGHT: This week: -1lb Total: -23lb

EXERCISE: 3 Sessions: 1x Zumba 1x yoga 1x Walk

MOOD: Sleepy

RECIPE/FOOD/SNACK of the week: Pepperidge Farm Cheddar Goldfish

HINTS/TIPS of the week: Drink more fluids

I have broken through that dreaded boogey weight, so it’s just about keeping it off now. I feel like I need to keep it off this week, don’t want to go back and forwards again!

  1. Sorry just catching up – but yay, more weight loss! Woop woop! And lots of exercise too 😊

What are the snack of the week that you mentioned? They sound awesome 😊

I cooked for my family this weekend so my fridge is full of cheesecake, cream, different cheeses…all the deliciously bad for you fatty dairy stuff. I hope the weather picks up so I can offset my temporary high calorie intake with some gardening and long walks 🤞

    1. Awww, thanks for the support once again, I had a good week last week!

They are these little cheddar fish that are an American snack but they have started to sell them on Amazon in the UK now as well, they’re just so tasty and addictive.

Fingers crossed, the weather improving would be pretty great all round 🙂 Cheese, mmmmmmmm

      1. You’ve done brilliantly!

Oooh! Fake cheese powdered snacks are the food of the gods, right? And real cheese too – I have five different varieties currently residing in my fridge. Mmmmm. Taste the cellulite…

      2. Thanks!

They are just the food of Zeus himself, they are literally God’s snack. I just adore them so so so much!! But yes, in general, powdered cheese snacks are the bomb.

So is cheese though. I don’t want to be dramatic or anything but I couldn’t live without cheese.

      3. Me either! My partner had some M&S chocolate bought for him last week and it’s just sitting there next to my mini cheese mountain. My fridge is a migraine waiting to happen.
