Bout of Books 21: Day 1

Get you books out, your dancing shoes on, because Bout of Books is back and it is time to part-ay! I can’t believe that Bout of Books is back already, with the 21st edition of this wonderful readathon. Once again, I decided to try and add a little spice to my readathon by setting a few challenges and creating a TBR for the week, take a little look here! My TBR seems to be ever changing this year as I have lucked out on getting some ARCs that I want to read, we’ll see how much I can actually get through this time round! What are you reading?

I’m also a Bout of Books expert, here to help the lovely ladies at Bout of Books with all your readathon related enquiries, and to offer all round support and help for the readathon! So please, comment on my updates, and tweet me here!

We’re all friendly, fun, and book obsessed, so if you’d like to take part, it’s not too late to sign up hereThere will also be a Twitter Chat at 8pm CST (TZCso if you’re up and about online, you should definitely take part. Make sure to follow @BoutofBooks and use #BoutofBooks when sharing posts on social media! I’m not sure I will be taking part in this one as it falls at 2am local time for me, but there is another one on Saturday if this time doesn’t suit you!

08:10am: So I’ve already had to get up, take my friend to the station (I 100% volunteered for this task, I didn’t have to do it in her defence), de-ice my car, and it’s not even quite light yet. Buuuuut, it is the beginning of Bout of Books, so who cares that this morning is dull, cold, and icy, and that later I have work? I like my job, so I really shouldn’t make out it’s a chore, it’s just gonna stop reading time. Things to do this morning, things to do!

11:15am: I’m just about to start work and I still haven’t read anything. The good news is that I found my phone charger so I should be able to get an Audiobook starred on the drive home. I might even get a little bit of Siege and Storm finished too. I need to finish that book!

15:30pm: I have 15mins of my lunch left so I’m planning on reading for the first time this readathon. I’ve just been approved for another 2 ARCs I recently requested through Net Galley so my TBR is growing again!!

17:00pm: So I didn’t read anything on my lunch, or my second break. Whoops. I really should have but it never happened. I have downloaded my two new ARCs though, and also downloaded Anne of Green Gables and The Bletchley Girls audiobooks from the library so I should be able to get one of those started on the way home.

20:55pm: There is no dinner quite like a dinner of porridge and crumpets, right? I’ve officially read something this readathon, can I get a whoop whoop?! I started Anne of Green Gables on my way home, so that’s me settled in for my next listen/read. I know I should really read right now but I just want to watch Only Connect. Decisions decisions.

23:05pm: My shift starts at 6:30am. I really should be asleep but instead I’m wondering about reading Siege and Storm while watching Helicopter ER. I live a crazy life. Sadly I can’t take part in tonight’s Twitter chat 😦 it’s just on too late for me in England. I hope all you crazy kids love it though. I’ll catch up with you all tomorrow.

Today’s challenge is pretty simple: introduce yourself #insixwords. I don’t think I can introduce myself much better than I did last time round, and the time before that,  so here we are:

Intrepid Bibliophile. Exploring Foodie.  Scouse Gryffindor.

  1. You got in there quickly – first one on day two! Don’t worry, I feel like I’ve been completely remiss so far and it’s only day two… I really wish I hadn’t signed up this year to be honest, there’s just too much going on!
