Strictly Come Dancing: Week 4

Good evening ladies, gentleman, boys, and girls, and welcome to another Strictly Saturday. Can you believe that it is already week 4?! And this week I have some amazing news. I say news, it’s more something that happened this week. Shirley Ballas, The Shirley Ballas, head judge and queen of the dance floor, liked a tweet of mine! I know, I was super excited too!

Last week, we lost an absolute legend and entertainer Rev. Richard and Dianne. Not gonna lie, I am gutted. He wasn’t the best dancer but he looked like he loved it so so much. You knew that he would always be giving it everything, he didn’t make mistakes, and he went full out with the entertainment value. It’s not going to be the same show without him!

Tess is back in her asymmetric dress, and Claudia is back in her heavy eye make-up, which means it must be the start of the show…

Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice | Cha Cha to ‘The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In His Kiss)’ (watch here)

I feel like The Lonely Island song ‘Dick in a Box’ is going to play at any moment during this VT. I am dreading this to the point where I am wondering if I actually need my eyes. Are they actually necessary?

I feel sick. I think I may have mini-sicked into my mouth about 7 times during that dance. She just looks like she is going to eat her son and Gio needs to shove right off. Also, can we discuss Shirley for a moment. Debbie is only a year older, but looks like she could be her mother she has aged that badly in comparison.

Craig: 6 Darcey: 6 Shirley: 7 Bruno: 8 | Total: 27

Brian Conley and Amy Dowden | Paso Doble to ‘I Believe In A Thing Call Love’ (watch here)

I just don’t think this is going to be very good. I really cannot take to either of these. And I’m also not sure about this song with this dance type.

He is rocking the eye-liner. It took Emma and I a little while, but we finally worked out who he looks like: EDDIE IZZARD. I ddin’t think much of that, other than that it was a bit rubbish. I’m hoping he goes this week.

Craig: 4 Darcey: 6 Shirley: 6 Bruno: 5 | Total: 21

Mollie King and AJ Pritchard | Salsa to ‘Súbeme La Radio’ (watch here)

I really don’t have much of an opinion of these two. I kind of like the fact she is a little unsure and goofy in a way, but also think that looking like that is an unfair advantage. I realise how much I don’t love her that much when I see Frankie Bridge and think how much I loved her and Kevin.

Not gonna lie, I was kind of disappointed. I thought she would be a lot better than she was. She just looked like she didn’t want to do it and looked awkward as hell (to be fair I can’t blame her, I would be too). I can’t help but wonder, if she didn’t look like a stunning blonde model would she gets the scores she does? Harsh but true.

Craig: 6 Darcey: 7 Shirley: 7 Bruno: 7 | Total: 27

Davood Ghadami and Nadiya Bychkova | Viennese Waltz to ‘Say You Love Me’ (watch here)

I have this horrible feeling that she is going to sluttify a Viennese Waltz and that is wrong and shouldn’t be done. Funny thing is, the more I dislike her, the more I like him. I do feel for him though, as rough as some people claim to have motion sickness, he actually looks like he does have.

Oh God, is he going to hurl? Are we going to see him be sick? He looks so ill! WHY NADIYA? WHYYYYYY? There is just no need to add slut stuff to such an elegant dance. It’s really seriously pissing me off now!

Craig: 6 Darcey: 7 Shirley: 8 Bruno: 8 | Total: 29

Charlotte Hawkins and Brendan Cole | Jive to ‘Marry You’ (watch here)

I don’t know what is worse about watching these two, watching their previous dances in the VT, or knowing that we are going to have to watch her dance again. This show has not started off strong for me at all.

That was not good. It was barely recognisable as a jive. Brendan’s pink pants are just too tight, and unsettingly. Is this even a jive? Can we really say that this is fast enough, or flicky enough to be a jive?

Craig: 4 Darcey: 5 Shirley: 5 Bruno: 5 | Total: 19

Joe McFadden and Katya Jones | Cha Cha to ‘You Keep Me Hanging On’ (watch here)

What is so adoable about these is his little face. He’s always so smiley. He doesn’t look like this week is coming naturally though. He will pull it out on the night I am sure.

Oooo Joe, that wasn’t your best dance. I can see you went for it, and you were definitely moving you bottom half in isolation from the top half, but it was awkward. Be glad that one is out of the way!

Craig: 5 Darcey: 7 Shirley: 6 Bruno: 6 | Total: 24

Ruth Langsford and Anton Du Beke | Tango to ‘Allegretto’ (watch here)

I love Bond, this should be such a dramatic and powerful song to Tango too. I love how much Anton just gegs in on her days in work to go and show off and dance with lots of beautiful women.

I like this. The music is good. The suit is good. The dance is a definite improvement. She is much better this week, and even though it’s a bit skippy I’ve really liked this.

Craig:6 Darcey: 6 Shirley: 6 Bruno: 6 | Total: 24

Aston Merrygold and Janette Manrara | Quickstep to ‘Mr Blue Sky’ (watch here)

I love the quickstep, it’s my favourite dance. I love these two, because they can really move. I have this feeling that this will be really good. The song is perfect, and if this goes well, it could be one to re-watch over and over.

I loved that. Her dress was absolutely beautiful. It was so fact, but it had a pleasant change of pace in the middle. It was so intricate and they did that little leap in the middle that I love in a quickstep. That dance is why I love the quickstep so much.

Craig: 7 Darcey: 8 Shirley: 8 Bruno: 9 | Total: 32

Simon Rimmer and Karen Clifton | Samba to ‘Copacabana’ (watch here)

This has huge potential to be painful. The song and the shirt and the dance style are coming together to make the perfect mix for embarrassing Dad dancing.

That was just hilarious. I think it might be one of my favourite dances ever. It was awful and painful, but he was having a brilliant time. Emma has decided that she wants to watch Sunday Brunch just to watch Tim Lovejoy rip into him for it.

Craig: 4 Darcey: 5 Shirley: 5 Bruno: 5 | Total: 19

Gemma Atkinson and Aljaz Skorjanec |Paso Doble to ‘Viva La Vida’ (watch here)

I really quite like these two. I will never, ever forget him dressed as Baloo and their Charleston to Bare Necessities last week. That dance will go down in Strictly folklore. We like a good Paso in the house, so we’re looking forward to this.

Wow, she was fierce, and wow, Aljaz looks good when he is all moody and not clean shaven. That was a pretty good Paso right there, and although I like the song, I am not sure about it for this dance. *claps*

Craig: 8 Darcey: 9 Shirley: 9 Bruno: 9 | Total: 35

Alexandra Burke and Gorka Marquez | Jive to ‘Proud Mary’ (watch here)

I love Gorka, but he is even more adorable when he is dishevelled in training, when his hair isn’t all perfect and he’s just chilling. These two make such an adorable pair. I have high, high hopes for this dance.

OH WOW. That was something else. She was on FIRE! Gorka looked amazing, she looked incredible, Shirley and Bruno were grooving along. That was by far the best dance of the series, by a country mile!

It turned a bit quick during the scoring though. It’s so sad that she is going through so much. You can see it’s all so fresh, Well done, your Mum would have been so proud!

Craig: 9 Darcey: 10 Shirley: 10 Bruno: 10 | Total: 39

*********SOUND THE 10 ALARM***********

Those are thoroughly deserved, that was incredible.

Jonnie Peacock and Oti Mabuse | American Smooth to ‘Cry Me A River’ (watch here)

OK, I know that I go on about his leg, but can his joints and his leg support the weight of two people? I think he’s going to be OK, he looks like he is loving it.

Oh I liked that. Dayum Oti is stunning. I think she is abolutely breathtaking! The lifts and tricks in that dance we amazing, and the song and the red dress just made is so dramatic.

Craig: 7 Darcey: 8 Shirley: 8 Bruno: 8 | Total: 31

Susan Calman and Kevin Clifton | Quickstep to ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ (watch here)

I am really pleased that these two are closing the show, because it is going to mean that a) they’re not forgotten about, and b) that the people I like are all at the end! I love that this is his wedding song, and I think it’s just going to be the cutest and most joyous thing I have ever seen!

I loved it. The mood, the tributes to Morecambe and Wise, the speed. It was a really great dance, a really good quickstep. I just love how happy they both look. I really believe that she’s wanted to go on this show and looks like she is having the best time of anyone ever!

Craig: 7 Darcey: 7 Shirley: 8 Bruno: 8 | Total: 30

  1. Alexandra & Gorka – 39
  2. Gemma & Aljaz  – 35
  3.  Aston & Janette – 32
  4. Jonnie & Oti – 31
  5. Susan & Kevin – 30
  6. Davood & Nadiya – 29
  7. Mollie & AJ/Debbie & Giovanni – 27
  8. Joe & Katya/Ruth & Anton – 24
  9. Brian & Amy – 21
  10. Simon & Karen/Charlotte & Brendan – 19

Wow, that was a firecracker of a show. It started a bit meh, it got a bit better, and then boom, it took off like lightning and finished with a bang. And to boot, we saw the first 10’s of this year’s Strictly, and the first Ballas 10. I loved the phrase ‘it’s never to early for a 10 from Shirley’. I just love her so so much, she is amazing, and I can barely remember Len (that’s a huge deal, because Len was an institution).

Until tomorrow…..

…..keep dancing!

I am very confused about this BDSM dungeon-cum-emperors and slaves shoeless dance that went on right there. It was very weird, and I am not sure that all of it actually qualified as dancing? I don’t think I really liked it, and there wasn’t enough Neil, and I don’t want to see Anton in pyjamas under and circumstances.

I think everyone looked a bit shocked that Davood and  Nadiya were in the bottom two, but she is so dis-likeable that I can’t help but wonder if there is absolutely nobody left. I panicked that Joe and Katya might be in there with them and go, but was relieved that they were against Charlotte and Brendan. I am not going to have the watch the pain of their dancing until the last week. Phew.

See you next week folks!
