Emma has started work, and I have four days off this week/weekend, so I am going to make the most of it and try and get more of her room done! So this is only going to be a quick one! Catía and Danielle set Book Travelling Thursday up with the intention of choosing a single book to encompass the theme of the week, that changes and is posted on the dedicated Goodreads group found here.
This week’s challenge is a book that you think will become a classic in a few years. I anyone ever asks this question, there is only one book that instantly comes to mind, and that is The Road by Cormac McCarthy. It’s critically acclaimed, and already seems to be working it’s way into syllabuses and must-read lists all over the world.
There are so many covers of this book considering it is only a decade old, probably another reason is will become a classic. I know that’s not a reason to think it will become a classic, but classics always have had loads of covers.
I haven’t seen the movie yet either, but I actually quite like the movie tie-ins, which is rare for me because I usually hate them. They’re so dark and apocalyptic, very atmospheric. Most of the covers are very atmospheric, whether they feature a person, a road, or almost nothing at all.
My favourite cover, and the one I own, is at the top of the blog post.
Trees and atmospheric shots of fading lands, fog, and roads.
What book(s) do you think will become a classic in a few years time? Which do you think will stand the test of time?
