I hate how quick Bout of Books goes. It’s just over too soon, every time! And while I may not be having a great Bout of Books in terms of reading, I have enjoyed the challenges so far. It’s just a shame that the twitter chats are so US based in terms of time-zones that I haven’t interacted with other book lovers as much as I would have liked so far. Still a few days to remedy that I suppose!
5:00am: The first of three 6am starts on the bounce, how lovely. At least I may have a chance to read when work is less busy, and may be able to do things over the weekend as I’ll have my afternoon’s free. I’m debating the gym or swimming later, but we’ll see how tired I am.
12:00pm: I’m not going to lie, I am confused. I don’t understand why or how my Day 4 post managed to appear after my Day 5, but there we go. It is at least distracting me from the fact I am getting no reading done whatsoever.
6:00pm: I accidentally went on buzzfeed and found a post about Jason Momoa and Guinness. That counts as reading right? I am so tired after work that I am probably going to end up crashing before 8 tonight. I just need to do the challenge and then the day won’t be a complete Bout of Books bust!
7:45pm: As predicted, I am off to bed. I have done no more reading today than the 10 or so I read at work this morning, and I am so tired I am struggling to pay attention to a pivotal Arrow episode.
Today’s musical challenge comes courtesy of Janey. I’m not going to lie, I have struggled quite a lot with this one. I think I was making it way more complicated than it needed to be, but it wasn’t up my street at all. I’ve still given it a go though, using the following options/prompts:
- Rename your book with a song
- Give a lyric that sums up the plot of your book
- A song or album that is forever associated with a particular books in your mind
The recent dystopian themes and craze, mainly Divergent and Hunger Games, fit so well with the lyrics from ‘Knights of Cydonia’ by Muse:
No one’s gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive
Well today has been a bust. One of those days where little things seem to go wrong throughout the day and pile on top of one another when you were already criminally tired. At least the disaster bust of a day is over! 10 measly pages read today – it’s almost embarrassing!
